Slated to be replaced, Amtrak recently closed their Schenectady station on Erie Boulevard.

According to a Times Union report, Amtrak shut the station down for good last weekend. Their are currently plans to knock down the current station to replace it with a new one. The Times Union says there is a temporary platform and ticket trailer on-site, so rail service is still being provided at the stop. Construction on the new station is tentatively scheduled for this Fall.

Now if you are a daily commuter and use the Schenectady stop, you will still be able to navigate your commute form this stop. If you are a more casual Amtrak traveler, you can always use the stations in Saratoga Springs or Rensselaer.
