Retired Amsterdam Papermill To Get New Life As Bakery & Brewpub
A new restaurant, retail space, and more are being planned for a former Amsterdam paper mill.
Amsterdam has a long and storied history of industry, so it is only fitting that an industrious idea and plan will bring new life to an old, local papermill.
According to a report from Notes on Napkins, the Forest Avenue Building that used to house the Sonoco Products Company paper mill is being targeted for a new multi-use facility. Croatian food tech outfit and craft bakery Boogie Lab USA is planning a $22 million renovation project to turn the old mill into "... a production facility, restaurant, brewpub, and retail space."
The Notes On Napkins story says Boogie Lab USA will be opening its first stateside bakery in New York City this spring and the Amsterdam bakery would focus on "artisanal breads" where "...spent grain would be upcycled for use at a brewpub proposed onsite."
A target date for the renovations or when the facility could open has yet to be revealed.
