Albany Police Help Rescue 15 Dogs Living Inside House of Horrors
Animal "House of Horrors"
15 dogs were rescued from a house in Albany last week, that according to police, was littered with animal urine and feces, as well as uncapped syringes and other dangerous drug paraphernalia.
According to the report, Albany Police teamed up with the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society for the rescue, and as a result, 6 have been arrested in accordance with the extreme neglect.
Where was it?
According to Albany Police, the raid took place last Thursday, April 20th at 532 Morris Street in Albany, but the good police work started at the end of March when Albany police were tipped off about the animals' poor living conditions.
On Friday, March 31, 2023, around 1:35 p.m., investigators from the Albany Police Department’s Special Operations Unit showed up at the house, and "during their investigation, investigators discovered one adult mixed-breed dog and one mixed-breed puppy inside walking in a room containing urine, feces, and uncapped syringes."
Following the March 31st finding, police arrested Jonathan Willis, 30, of Albany.
What did the police find?
According to the report, police came back with a warrant on Thursday, April 20th, and they found 15 dogs inside the house; nine were adult mixed-breed dogs and six were mixed-breed puppies.
All sadly were found "without necessary food or water and were subject to a room filled with feces, urine, and narcotics paraphernalia" according to the source.
A total of 6 arrested and charged with animal cruelty
Following last Thursday's raid, police say that five more individuals inside were taken into custody and each charged with 15 counts of animal cruelty and nine counts of failing to license their dogs.
Those arrested are as follows:
• Robert Barton, 58, of Albany
• Alexandra Marci, 35, of Albany
• Jesse Dutcher, 27, of Albany
• Dalton Dutcher, 33, of Albany
• Christian Billings, 50, of Albany
The dogs are currently being cared for at the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society and are not ready for adoption at this time.
