It's the first sign Fall is in full swing: foliage is starting to turn and weekly foliage reports have kicked off.

Here in the Capital Region, we may just be seeing those first few leaves changing color, but in other parts of the state the shift to Autumn is a little more noticeable and proof of that is here: the first I LOVE NY foliage report of the season has been posted for the weekend ahead.

Now if the first thing that comes to mind is it is a little too early for this, you would be right as there is a lot of time left to go in leaf-peeping season. But if you want to get an early start, the I LOVE NY map is showing a good portion of the Adirondacks is starting to see color change. The report also says some color change has been reported in Fulton Country in the 'Capital-Saratoga' area but your own eye test will tell ya heading north will be the way to go to see more widespread color change at this point.

If there was ever a perfect late summer/fall weekend to get out and enjoy the great outdoors, this is the one. Outside of some clouds Sunday, the Weather Channel says we can expect a nice weekend with temperatures in the low 70's. So while the foliage may just be getting started, beautiful weekends like this will start to fade away. Now is the time to soak in as much outside time before it gets too cold!

The I LOVE NY foliage report will be released every Wednesday through leaf-peeping series on their website.
