Sunday was a disaster for the New York Giants. The 29-3 loss to a directionless Chicago Bears team, playing without their prized quarterback Justin Fields, was nothing less than a complete embarrassment. The Mara and Tisch families had to be hanging their heads in frustration. 2021 has been one stumble after the next for the storied New York National Football League franchise. Here are 5 resolutions that the Giants owners have to abide by to turn this ship around.

#1 Hire someone from outside the organization to replace general manager Dave Gettleman. John Mara and Steve Tisch hired Dave Gettleman because they knew him and were comfortable with him. The Giants need a clean sweep. I like Kansas City Chiefs assistant GM Mike Borgonzi for the job but no matter who it is, give them free rein to do the job. If that means firing Joe Judge, even though you said you wouldn't, that's what you let the new GM do. If the new GM wants to trade Saquon or Danny Dimes, that's what you agreed to. FREE REIN!

#2 Realize that Daniel Jones is not the next Eli Manning and begin to make plans for your next franchise quarterback. It is fine to go into 2022 with Jones as the QB but there has to be a plan to develop or acquire a winning QB. The most important thing is to bring in an experienced and qualified quarterback, like a Mitch Trubisky to compete with Jones in training camp and hopefully back him up during the season. This will be good for Jones and good for the Giants (see Mike Glennon if you need examples).

#3 Build an offensive line. Dave Gettleman failed to protect his two high draft picks, RB Saquon Barkley and QB Daniel Jones. Barkley had a great rookie campaign and has failed to stay healthy since. The same can be said for Jones. Why draft them if you can't protect them and they can't perform?

#4 Build on their defensive identity. The new Giants GM needs to keep defensive coordinator Patrick Graham and continue to build depth. This side of the ball seems to have some direction and was not at fault for that embarrassing loss on Sunday.

#5 Never embarrass such a storied franchise with a 'Fan Appreciation' gesture of a measly free medium soda ever again. Whomever thought that was a good idea, should be re-assigned. It's sad when the Jets look like they have more of a direction than your franchise does. That pretty much says it all.
