Iowa Gets Blasted With Snow – Where Is Ours?
The first big snowstorm of the year has hit......in Iowa! The folks out there are "slip sliding away" to quote the legendary Paul Simon.

With this rain we're getting today and tomorrow and the temps hovering in the mid 30's and low 40's we might not have a white Christmas in Albany again.
Are you dreaming of a White Christmas? The Bing Crosby song is timeless and also says a lot to so many people. When I was living in Phoenix, AZ and flew back to Albany for the Christmas holiday, all I wanted was a white Christmas. Regardless of if you live here or not, many people want to have some snow on the ground. So - will we have a white Christmas in 2012? We've been doing some research and we think we are ready to make a guess!
So how does this happen? Bascially the hurricane comes up the coast and merges with a potent Arctic cold front over near the Great Lakes and then BAM - several inches of show with perhaps tropical storm winds. There could also be flooding along the coast of NYC and New England. In short, if this happens we will have a huge mess on our hands.
Cheryl Furman made a guess that we would measure 6 inches at the WGNA studios in Schenectady at 3:13 yesterday.
Really? Roads completely unplowed in a major town like Niskayuna? I realize I drive in rather early, but I don't get it. I could go on here, but I'd rather sing my complaint, if you don't mind in commemoration of the first winter snowstorm of the season.
We'll have to wait and see. I went out with the yardstick to measure the snow at about 3:45 and we had 2 inches on the ground here at the GNA studios.
It’s been awhile and I’m sure some people are saying that I’ll believe it when I see it.
Am I the only one that enjoys driving in snow?
Everyone has a ton of snow storm photos in the Albany NY area. We always gets more than our fair share of snow storms (most winters), and we can never see enough great photos of snow. If you ski or board, it's heaven for you - or if you have children in your life, it's a great joy to watch them playing in the snow. Check out our photo gallery of snow photos!
As one of my favorite times of year is upon us I feel like something is missing. WHERE'S MY SNOW?!
First Flakes is coming back soon...
