Man In Jail After Push-and-Shove Shoplifting Incident
A 23-year-old Ballston Lake man has been accused of hiding several boxes of dvds under his waistband and walking out of an East Greenbush store without paying for them on September 8.
When a security guard approached him, he allegedly pushed and shoved the security guard using his body weight, and injuring the guard. He then ran into the parking lot and disappeared.
In a press release from the East Greenbush Police Department, 23-year-old Brett A. Maguire has been charged with Robbery In The Third Degree and Larceny.
Maguire’s identity remained a mystery for a few weeks until he was arrested by The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department for another incident. Maguire’s picture was chosen out of an array of other pictures, and was identified as the dvd thief.
Maguire was arraigned late Friday night in East Greenbush Town Court. During the same proceeding, Maguire was re-arraigned on charges of Larceny, Conspiracy and Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument. Those charges stem from another incident in June, where Maguire allegedly stole merchandise and was also allegedly found in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. He was ordered to be held in Rensselaer County Jail pending a court appearance.
