Bill Passed Allowing FanDuel & DraftKings To Operate In New York
It’s official – Fanduel and DraftKings are back in action in New York State.
How exciting is this!! Today, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the bill legalizing fantasy sports groups like FanDuel and Draft Kings to operate in New York State.
The bill requires the fantasy sports companies to register with the NYS gaming Commission and follow their guidelines. The legalization of these fantasy sports gambling sites is set to generate around $4 million in revenue. The revenue will fund education aid throughout New York state.
The negotiation was long, however state officials feel that these new guidelines will better protect New York users and protects the funds they deposit. The new law will also ensure the sites prohibit underage users.
I for one am happy to see this legislation passed and thank all involved for their hard work! Draftkings and FanDuel went to Twitter to thank New Yorkers!
Thank you, @NYGovCuomo! We are excited to bring the fun of #DFS back to #NY!
