With the summer concert season quickly approaching, preparations are underway at Saratoga Performing Arts Center including special training drills.  Saratoga Performing Arts Center is the summer spot for concert goers and law enforcement and SPAC want to make sure that everyone can have a safe and fun experience. There could be up to twenty five thousand people at any concert at SPAC therefore creating an easy target. They are preparing for the worst to protect the crowd and the artists.

There is a large police presence in Saratoga this week, in and around SPAC, for a special week long active shooter training drill. According to News 10, the exercise includes local, state and county law enforcement agencies where they will perform drills similar to those that are done at schools in an active shooter scenario.

The heavy police presence will not only be on the SPAC grounds, but inside Saratoga Spa State Park. Residents and pedestrians nearby may even hear simulated gun fire during the week in the mornings around 8:30 am.

The area that law enforcement has fenced-in will be closed to the public during this week of training. Friday at 5:30 pm will be the final exercise.
