I know a lot of parents like to teach their kids about charity and volunteering and I came across an even that I think the whole family could get into , and know they did something great for the environment and the community. I was checking out the Times Union on line and they had a story about "I love My Park Day" which is a non profit event designed to clean up some of the amazing parks we have right here in the Capital District.

According to the Parks and Trails website: "Over 100 state parks and historic sites will participate, from Jones Beach State Park to Niagara Falls State Park.....Volunteers from across the state participate in cleanup, improvement, and beautification events at New York State parks and historic sites each year on the first Saturday in May. They celebrate New York’s park system by cleaning up park lands and beaches, planting trees and gardens, restoring trails and wildlife habitat, removing invasive species, and working on various construction and site improvement projects."
