Weekend Box Office: ‘Puss In Boots’ Claws Its Way to Another First Place Finish
In its second week of release, ‘Puss In Boots,’ the Antonio Banderas-voiced swashbuckling feline from the ‘Shrek’ franchise, pulled in $33 million in milk money to again take the top spot at the box office this weekend.
The star-studded caper ‘Tower Heist’ premiered at number two with $25 million in revenues, followed by the three-quel ‘A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas’ with $13 million.
Spooky flick ‘Paranormal Activity 3′ fell to the fourth spot, scaring up $8.5 million, and Justin Timberlake’s futuristic thriller ‘In Time’ rounded out the top five with a $7.7 million haul.
Here’s a list of the top 10 movies at the box office Friday through Sunday with estimated grosses, along with how much each movie has made since its release:
1. ‘Puss In Boots’ – $33 million, $75.5 million total
2. ‘Tower Heist’ – $25 million, new release
3. ‘A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas’ – $13 million, new release
4. ‘Paranormal Activity 3′ – $8.5 million, $95.3 million total
5. ‘In Time’ – $7.7 million, $24.2 million total
6. ‘Footloose’ – $4.5 million, $44.7 million total
7. ‘Real Steel’ – $3.4 million, $78.7 million total
8. ‘The Rum Diary’ – $2.9 million, $10.4 million total
9. ‘The Ides of March’ – $2 million, $36.8 million total
10. ‘Moneyball’ – $1.9 million, $70.3 million total
