Wanna Drive a NASCAR or Formula 1 Race Car? Coming Soon to Upstate NY
Have you always wanted to get behind the wheel of a NASCAR or Formula 1 car and race around the track? Well now is your chance to do just that in a cool way in this Upstate NY museum.
Where Is This Experience?
The Saratoga Auto Museum is opening a new "ride" for its members. If you are a member of the museum you are able to check out their new simulator that puts you behind the wheel and become a race car driver.
The Saratoga Auto Museum's orientation theater will become a racing room and will house the simulator.
The simulator machine has you seated in the driver's seat of a virtual race car. There are real racetracks available from Formula 1 and NASCAR.
How Is This Racing Experience?
According to Zach Skowronek, the Media Director of the Saratoga Auto Museum,
It gives you an immersive experience that you can’t just get from a controller or a keyboard. This simulator allows you to feel motion. Whether you’re taking a turn going over a bump, the wheel gives feedback so it actually makes it harder to turn and stuff like that actually puts you more in the experience than a controller or keyboard would.
The Saratoga Auto Museum Wants to Attract New Visitors
The main goal of the new racing room and simulator is to attract a new generation of visitors to the museum according to News 10 ABC. They hope that the simulator will add a level of excitement to be behind the wheel and on the track, virtually of course.
What Else Will Be in This Part of the Museum?
The area where the simulator will be will also have an exhibit that will honor auto racing's greatest legends. They will celebrate those legends on a local and national level.
When Will The Simulator Be Ready?
The Saratoga Auto Museum hopes to have the exhibit and simulator up and running by mid-summer. Members will be able to reserve a time slot online. They also said they will be holding monthly competitions and time trials so you can showcase your skills. The top finishers will have their names up on the wall.
