One of our local natural wonders is getting national recognition as the Empire State's premier vacation and getaway destination.
Having grown up in New Jersey, I can tell you firsthand that before I was exposed to the natural wonders of Upstate, when I heard the words New York my brain always conjured the image of New York City.
For some outsiders, the vast wilderness and beauty that exists north of New York City may not be very well known. From the Catskills to Niagara Falls to Letchworth State Park and beyond, New York's natural beauty is VAST!
For locals and those who have made Upstate a destination for getaways and vacations over the years - the natural beauty of the state IS what New York is known for. And according to one national publication, one local gem has been named the Empire State's ultimate getaway location.
Vogue Names New York's "Ulitmate Getaway"
Vogue has named "the birthplace of the American vacation" and the nation's largest protected park New York's ultimate getaway destination! Of course, we are talking about the Adirondack Mountains. According to Vogue, there are some key elements that earn the region the title of "ultimate:"
Within this natural splendor lies a network of sleepy towns linked by scenic byways with outdoor activities, farm-to-table provisions, and architectural masterpieces.
Vogue says the region's stunning camps, easy travel access, and four-season recreational opportunities also add to the appeal of the Adirondacks.
The article even recommends some great local spots to visit, including several in Lake Placid like the Eastwind Hotel...
