The next round of winter weather will make its way Upstate on Sunday (January 28, 2024) and some areas could see up to 10 inches of snow.

After another stretch of winter rain earlier this week washed away a lot of snow in the region, colder weather is back as our active precipitation pattern continues today with more snow.

National Weather Service Issues Winter Weather Alerts

According to News Channel 13, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Western Albany and Green counties until noon Monday with heavy snow expected. A winter weather advisory has been issued for Western Schenectady, Eastern Rensselaer, Schoharie, Eastern Columbia, and Western Ulster Counties for snow as well.

Precipitation will start as light rain falling in the valleys at first eventually changing to all snow throughout the region later Sunday. Snow till taper off early Monday morning giving way to clouds and breezy conditions with temps in the mid-30s according to News Channel 13. You can see snowfall accumulation predictions below.

A Winter Storm Warning and a Winter Weather Advisory have both been issued for areas in Upstate New York by the National Weather Service (NWS) for Sunday, January 28th. Snow will start Sunday, with valley areas starting out as rain earlier in the day. Snowfall accumulations from this storm will range from a couple of inches to up to 10 inches for some. Another Upstate New York winter is upon us. And while it is popular for forecasters to predict a cold and snowy winter ahead, how much snow would it actually take to make it an all-time winter when it comes to big a big snowfall total for the season? In the average winter, the National Weather Service (NWS_ says we get 59.2 inches of snow in Albany. We will have to crush that number this winter for the season ahead to make this NWS top 10 list of our snowiest Albany winters on record.
