The New York State Police announced in a press conference today that the father of 9-year-old Melina Frattolin, who was found deceased in Ticonderoga on Sunday after being reported missing, has been charged with murder in the 2nd degree and concealment of a corpse.

Luciano Frattolin was arrested this morning and will be officially arraigned in Ticonderoga today.

The father falsely reported his daughter was abducted on Saturday night in Lake George near the exit 22 area of the Northway, and an Amber Alert was subsequently issued.

Police say Luciano Frattolin was on vacation with his daughter, visiting New York and Connecticut, and was last spotted in Saratoga Springs. Police say Frattolin was estranged from his wife, who had full custody of Melina and resides in Montreal. Frattolin was due to bring Melina home on Sunday, after their vacation. Police say Luciano had no criminal history and no instances of domestic violence.
