The Top 5 Capital Region Country Shows of 2017
2017 was an amazing year for Country concerts in the Albany area, and here are the 5 that were GNA Nation's favorites.
We opened up voting for this last week asking the question 'What was your favaorite Capital Region Country Show of 2017' and the possibilities were endless. All the SPAC shows. Garth and Tim & Faith at the Times Union Center. All the Upstate Concert Hall and Palace Theatre shows. This list goes on and on. But when it comes down to brass tacks, there are 5 concerts from the past 12 months that rise above the rest. Here they are:
- 1
Garth Brooks at the Times Union Center
No surprise here that Garth landed at #1 on this list. Let's faceit , he is the biggest Country star of all time if not the biggest musician in the history of popular music. And after years of retirement, his 3 night stand at the TU in March was amazing. All 3 shows sold out, and all 3 were unforgettable. Welcome back to #1 Garth!
- 2
Luke Bryan at SPAC
If it wasn't for Garth's return to Albany after years away, Luke surely would have landed at #1 on this list. Luke's show at SPAC has become a summer tradition, and this year he didn't disappoint. We hope he is back for another go round in 2018!
- 3
GNA's Countryfest
Coming in right behind Luke is a long standing summer tradition, and well, the biggest party of the year. GNA's Countryfest! This year's lineup featured Justin Moore, Randy Houser, Rodney Atkins, Michael Ray and Walker McGuire. After another rainy start this year, the skies cleared for another amazing party in Schaghticoke. Who is ready for next summer already???

Florida-Georgia Line at SPAC
Another show that has been making an annual stop at SPAC, this year Florida-Georgia line took things in a different direction with rapper Nelly and newcomers Chris Lane and Morgan Wallen. Obviously, GNA Nation was into it as SPAC was PACKED for this one, and well, landing at #4 on this list, obviously this was amazing night.
- 5
Old Dominion at Palace Theatre
Rounding out our top 5, it's a SOLD OUT show we had just last month at the Palace: Old Dominion. 2 things jumped out at me at this one: after just a few years in the game, these guys have an impressive list of hits. The other is how much you love this awesome band!
