St. Jude

This is a true story. You can't make these things up. I was more embarrassed than I've been in a very long time, but it convinces me even more that some things happen for a reason. Out of all places, it happened on the campus of St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

I had the unique opportunity to visit this amazing facility almost 20 years ago, so I'm interested to see the changes.  It's still extremely vivid in my memory.  We went room to room and visited patients, the familes of, and committed doctors as well.  It should be amazing!

All day Wednesday and Thursday, WGNA hosted the Country Cares For St. Jude Kids Radiothon, and as always, you (our listeners) came through. Do you know why?

Volunteers and and the WGNA staff have been hard at work answering your calls and taking your donations for our St. Jude Radiothon - which we thank you so much for your support. Well, our radiothon continues, and I had the unique opportunity to run down and answer phones this morning for St. Jude.  I only did it for an hour.  I'm sure our volunteers will have many, many more stories to tell.  But I have a quick one that made this very real for me personally, and I wanted to share it.

We had a brief outage with our phone bank for the St Jude radiothon that is happening now and tomorrow (Thursday) on WGNA however the phone company is working hard to restore service and with that comes a new number for you call and donate to help out the kids. As WGNA launches it's annual St. Jude Radiothon,  I wanted to share some facts about the hospital and give you a chance to hear a newly recorded St. Jude Song that features Dolly Parton and The Grascals.

WGNA presents the Country Cares For St. Jude Kids Radiothon as we continue our battle to end childhood cancers. This year's radiothon is Wednesday the 10th of August through the 11th from 6A - 7P. Country 107.7, WGNA begins our 2 day "Country Cares for St. Jude Kids" Radiothon at 6am tomorrow morning with The Sean and Richie Show.

I said when this season of the Celebrity Apprentice started that if John Rich doesn't win the whole thing I am going to boycott the show. Well, no boycott is necessary, as the Rich half of Big & Rich won the whole darn thing!

WGNA has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars each year to help the research continue at St. Jude Chlidren's Research Hospital.  Since it costs over 1 million dollars a day to keep the facility running, it is very important that we all do what we can to help the cause.
