It seems that the malls in the area and across the country are changing into entertainment complexes. When Sears moved out of Colonie Center back in 2017, it appeared that nothing would ever take that space. Now a store is moving in and it has nothing to do with entertainment.
This pandemic has taken its toll on retailers across the country and now the oldest department store chain will be closing its doors in many locations. On the list is one in the Capital Region.
A few weeks ago, JC Penney filed for bankruptcy and announced that they would start closing stores all across the country. They are closing one hundred fifty-four stores this summer and it looks as if the Capital Region department stores are safe, for now.
