90s Radio Gem Tapped As Opening Act For 2022 New York State Fair
We’re less than a month out from the start of the Great New York State Fair in Syracuse, and there’s already a full lineup of amazing shows for everyone. Whether you love pop, classic rock, R&B, rap, or country, the Fair has it covered like always. But if you rocked out to 90s radio, a new announcement will get your attention!
If you’re looking forward to Gin Blossoms playing later in the Fair, you’ll probably be a fan of the opening day act that kicks off 13 days of big shows. A figurehead for 90s alternative rock, his wordplay and catchy hooks will have you singing along in Syracuse.
The Barenaked Truth
The Great New York State Fair welcomes Steven Page, founding member of Barenaked Ladies to their Chevy Court stage. While solo now, Page was a founding member, primary songwriter, lead singer of the Canadian alt rockers known best for the irresistibly catchy “One Week.”
Page left the band in 2009 to follow a solo career. He made the most of COVID lockdowns to connect with old fans and made new ones during his Live From Home virtual concerts. His sixth album, Excelsior, is due to come out in September. Page has extra ties to the Empire State – he now lives in Central New York.
“Page’s local and regional connections - and familiarity as an artist - makes him the perfect artist to kick off the Chevrolet Music Series and 13 days filled with opportunities to come together at the Great New York State Fair.” - interim Fair Director Sean Hennessey
When Can You See Steven Page Perform?
You can watch Steven at the Chevy Court stage at 1p on Wednesday, August 24. The show is free with Fair admission.
