After dealing with driving or even walking in all this snow, the last thing you want to have happen is to find that your car has been towed! Not all city/town/village governments have snow emergency policies but the ones that do are serious about them. Here’s the list –

Adams: The Town of Adams has a snow emergency in effect until 6 p.m. Monday.

Albany has issued a SNOW EMERGENCY that will begin at 8:00 PM on Monday, December 27, 2010, at which time all normal parking rules and regulations are temporarily suspended. More info on the City of Albany website.

Athens: A snow emergency effective immediately has been declared for the Village of Athens. No parking in snow restricted areas. This emergency is in effect until further notice. All residents are to park their vehicles off the main roads and side streets to allow highway plows to clear the streets for accumulating snow. Residents are asked to park their vehicles in driveways and parking lots adjacent to the main roads. All Main Street residents are reminded to follow the regulations posted on the alternate side parking street signs.

Cairo: The Town of Cairo has declared a snow emergency,.

Castleton-on-Hudson: The Village of Castleton-on-Hudson has declared a snow emergency for 24 hours, starting at 6 p.m. Sunday, December 26, 2010. This emergency will be in effect until 6 p.m., Monday, December 27

East Greenbush: The Town of East Greenbush has declared that a snow emergency will be in effect, beginning Monday, December 27, 2010 at midnight. Local residents are reminded that vehicles are prohibited from parking on any public street during this snow emergency. Vehicles in violation of this local law will be subject to ticketing and/or towing.

Greenport: A snow emergency, beginning at 7pm Sunday, has been declared for the Town of Greenport in Columbia County.

Lenox, MA: The Town of Lenox has issued a snow emergency beginning Monday at 8:00 a.m. continuing through Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. Do not park on the street! All vehicles parked on any streets town wide will be towed at the owner's expense for snow removal purposes.

Mechanicville: A snow emergency has been declared for the city of Mechanicville starting at 7am on Monday - EVEN parking is in effect. Tuesday at 7am ODD parking will be in effect.

North Adams has declared a snow emergency for the City of North Adams from 9 p.m. Sunday night until 6 p.m. on Monday - This is due to the forecasted heavy snows and high winds that may cause significant drifting and visibility issues. Residents are asked to please be certain their vehicles are off the streets to facilitate the plowing and cleanup efforts. In addition, all city offices will be closed for the day, including City Hall, until Tuesday morning.

Pittsfield: A snow emergency has been extended for the City of Pittsfield until 7:00AM. on Tuesday. Residents are reminded that vehicles may not be parked on any city streets during the snow emergency. Violators will be ticketed and vehicles towed.

Waterford: The Town of Waterford Highway Department has declared a snow emergency from 10 a.m. until all streets are plowed and snow is pushed back. All vehicles must be removed from the streets. Alternate side parking is not in effect in the town.

Watervliet: The city has declared a snow emergency starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday. All residents must be prepared to move their vehicles for plowing. Any vehicles not moved will be towed.
