Our first snowfall of the season will arrive for many later this week. How much can some areas expect?

Better late than never!

Usually by now, we have seen our first inch or 2 of snow for the season throughout the region.

After what has been an abnormally dry and mild stretch of weather, we are about to get our first taste of winter in Upstate New York.

National Weather Service Issues Winter Weather Advisory

While most of the Capital Region will see rain to wrap up the work week, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 4 pm Wednesday through 1 am Saturday morning for Western Greene and Ulster Counties with 2 to 6 inches of snow expected and up to 12 inches possible at elevations over 3,000 feet.

A Winter Storm Watch has also been issued for areas in Western New York with 4 inches of snow possible at lower elevations, and up to 8 possible at higher elevations.

NWS says the timing of this storm will be Thursday afternoon through Friday afternoon.

According to News Channel 13. the greater Albany area will see mostly rain from this storm, with surrounding areas at higher elevations getting their first now of the season. Below are expected snowfall totals in areas adjacent to the Capital Region according to WNYT:
