What do Rhett Akins and Thomas Rhett have in common?

Rhett Akins gave us a few hits in the '90s, including 'Don't Get Me Started' and 'That Ain't My Truck'.  However, like many singers of that decade, his star faded in the 2000's. Akins was smart and used his talents to stay in the business behind the scenes. Rhett Akins used his spare time to write some monster hits for today's stars that include 'Honey Bee' for Blake Shelton, 'Gimmie That Girl' for Joe Nichols, 'All About Tonight' for Blake Shelton, 'Take A Back Road' for Rodney Atkins, and several others.

Now, it's his son's turn to make music for his generation of Country Music fans. Thomas Rhett Akins, Jr. was born in Valdosta, Georgia in 1990.  Following in his father's footsteps, he penned a cut for Jason Aldean's album titled, 'I Ain't Ready To Quit'. Now, he's landed a deal with the Valory Music Group (which also represents Reba McEntire and Justin Moore).

Thomas Rhett's first single 'Something To Do With My Hands' is already a hit on GNA.  We wish him luck as he carries on his family tradition!
