Wow, I should be laying down for my nap right now but on my way home from work I heard the news that country music legend Merle Haggard Passed away. Ouch. I knew I'd have to go home and play some tunes and drink a cold one to Merle and I am about to do just that but first I thought I'd share with you a few of the songs I'll be singing while I drink. It is impossible to just pick three when the man had so many great songs but right now, this is where my mind is going. I'd love for you to get a drink and come along.

I'll start with the first one that comes to mind, "Tonight the Bottle Let me Down." Now, of course, it's about drinking a lost love's memory away and failing but let's be honest, it fits perfectly here as well.

Now we got the right frame of mind, we know we are drinking to a lost love. Sometimes though after you realize that the bottle is letting you down you have to give into the sadness and "just stay here and drink."

Now after a couple great Haggard tunes and a few more cold ones, I may be starting to feel a little bad, maybe even a little sorry for myself but I know I have to remember that someone out there loves me and always will. Even if she is in heaven right now waiting for the first heavenly Merle Haggard concert I know that as hard to love as I ever got, "Mamma Tried."

I don't know about you, but I think I feel a little bit better now. When it comes to losing legends like Merle, you can always feel better knowing that such a big part of them, their music, will always be here for us to treasure.

Merle, I thank you for the memories, the tunes and for being there at some bad times when without you I would have been drinking alone.
