Red Hot New York Mets Will Be Buck-Less
The New York Mets are red-hot coming off of their doubleheader sweep of the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. The 9-3 Amazin's sit in first place going into Wednesday's game. ESPN's Buster Olney told The Drive with Charlie & Dan that new manager Buck Showalter is a big reason in that turnaround.
Olney credited the veteran manager with creating a positive clubhouse culture. Unfortunately, the Mets will have to try to keep that momentum going without their exalted leader for a day or two. As reported by Deesha Thosar by nydailynews.com, Showalter will miss Wednesday's game against the Giants for a medical procedure. Thosar said that the 65-year-old Showalter "hopes to be back in the dugout on Thursday."

Greg Joyce of nypost.com said that the Mets plan to have “a little bit of everybody” help manage in Showalter’s absence. There is also a chance that bench coach Glenn Sherlock could also be cleared in time to return from a bout with COVID-19, which would add another experienced voice back in the dugout.
This series against San Francisco is a great barometer for the New York Mets. The Giants won 107 games last season to win the National League West. They can pitch and have a tough line-up. With the Mets pulling out the sweep on Tuesday, even if the Mets lose in Buck's absence, they are still in great shape to win the series on Thursday afternoon at Citi Field.
