Radio Shack has again declared bankruptcy, which will lead to several Capital Region stores being closed.

It's one of those iconic chains that has been around for so long, and unfortunately Radio Shack is once again facing some tough times. According to nyup.com, the chain has declared bankruptcy for the second time in 2 years and will have to close 552 stores, 45 of them  in Upstate New York. The closures will include stores in Clifton Park, Saratoga Springs, Glenmont, Troy, Delmar and Johnstown. You can see the full list of Upstate New York closings here.

Radio Shack has definitely shifted what they do over the years, right? I remember years ago going there to buy electronics parts for my car or to fix stuff around the house, and it seems they have gotten away from that over the years as they shifted into the cell and then smartphone markets.

Maybe it's a sign of the times or just competition, but it's sad to see these stores that have been around so long close.
