POLL: Who Should Win Best Country Album at the 2016 Grammy Awards?
Best Country Album is the biggest country music award at the Grammy Awards, and this year, there's some stiff competition. Who do you think should win?
What a ride it's been for Sam Hunt: The Georgia native's first full-length album, Montevallo, was released in October of 2014, and it debuted on the all-genre Billboard 200 at No. 3 and on the Top Country Albums chart at No. 1. Hits such as "Take Your Time," "Leave the Night On," "Break Up in a Small Town" and more are featured on the record, which has been certified gold.
Pain Killer is Little Big Town's sixth studio album. The quartet wrote eight of the record's 13 tracks, including "Day Drinking" and "Pain Killer." While "Girl Crush" certainly garnered the most attention, the album as a whole was overall successful, debuting at No. 7 on the all-genre Billboard 200 and No. 3 on the Top Country Albums chart.
Ashley Monroe heated up the summer with the release of her album The Blade. Vince Gill and Justin Niebank produced the project, which was highly touted by her friends Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert. Monroe co-wrote all but one track from the record, which debuted at No. 2 on the Top Country Albums chart.
Pageant Material is Kacey Musgraves' second major-label release, and after winning Best Country Album at the 2014 Grammys for Same Trailer Different Park, the pressure is on. Musgraves co-wrote all 13 tracks on her sophomore project, which was co-produced with Luke Laird and Shane McAnally. "Dime Store Cowgirl" and "Biscuits," as well as a hidden track featuring Willie Nelson, are standouts on the No. 1 record.
Finally, all eyes are on Chris Stapleton's Traveller, which recently won Album of the Year at the 2015 CMA Awards. It became the first debut country album to reach No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 in four years, and it has been certified gold. Traveller is also nominated for the all-genre Album of the Year award at the 2016 Grammys. The last time a country artist won that category was in 2010 -- and the winner was Taylor Swift's Fearless.
