There's a large push towards non lethal ways to detain assailants.  One of those is a gun that fires bean bags. I've never seen one used in a "real world" situation, until now.

This guy in Vancouver is running around threatening people with a needle. Who knows what he has? So when the officer arrives on scene with the bean bag gun we see how to stop a crazy person without doing real damage.
