There is a mysterious place, that sits on the side of a mountain in the Catskill woods, that nobody knows how it was built or who built it. It's called "The Throne Room" and it contains thrones...one for a king another for his queen and a few more for their court. The "Throne Room" also has a fire pit for cooking and a few fireplaces with chimneys to ward off the Upstate New York cold.  It sits high above the valley with spectacular views in every direction.

I really feels like and looks like something out of Game of Thrones or The Chronicles of Narnia. The crazy thing is that nobody knows who built it or even why they built it. The "Throne Room" is close to the old Dibble Quarry that was used for its blue slate until the late 1800s. A lot of the blue slate from Dibble Quarry was used for sidewalks in New York City.

If you'd like to see the Catskills Throne Room you can hike to it. Check out Hudson River Valley Ramble for directions to the trailhead. It's a moderately strenuous hike that is about three miles.
