Today Governor Hochul announced the “Get Offline, Get Outside” campaign which will include free entry into New York State Park swimming pools for the rest of the summer.

This time of year without the structure of the school day, some days it is nearly impossible to pry our kids away from screen time. One thing that gets them dropping those screens and moving is the opportunity to visit our local pools in Clifton Park. Now, getting your kids out and about to spend some time at our state park swimming pools just got more affordable.

To get kids to spend less time on screens and social media, and more time socializing with friends, New York is launching the  “Get Offline, Get Outside” Campaign. Governor Hochul's office announced today the campaign will encourage kids to "...enjoy recreation and outdoor social gatherings."

To achieve this, the state is waiving entry fees for the swimming pools at all New York state parks and the Governor's office says the state is also launching the "...$1.5 million Connect Kids to Swimming Instruction Transportation Grant program to help with transportation to swimming lessons as part of the NY SWIMS initiative." The SWIMS program invests in pools in "underserved communities."

Many of these sweet backyard getaways also feature other great amenities like firepits, grills, and more. So the next time you want to cool off for an afternoon, avoid the crowded city pools and rent one of these backyard stunners!
