New York State Parks Need More Lifeguards-Pays $20 per hour
If your teen, young adult, or maybe you need a summer job, this could be the one. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is looking to hire more lifeguards for the summer.
What Are the Requirements for a New York State Lifeguard?
You only have to be a minimum of fifteen years old. But at the time of employment, you must have all current certifications. You must have the American Red Cross CPR certification for the Professional Rescuer along with the American Red Cross Lifeguarding and Waterfront Skills certification, and the American Red Cross First Aid certification.
Other Requirements for DEC Lifeguards
Lifeguards will be required to pass a New York State qualifying procedure before they begin their lifeguarding duties. There are two test dates left along with the locations. There is one this Saturday, June 3rd at Gloversville Middle School at 9 am and the final one on Saturday, June 24th at 9 am at Moriah Central School in Port Henry.

More DEC Requirements
Each candidate will have to submit the current NYS DEC "Medical Standards for Lifeguards" form. There must be a doctor's certification that you are physically capable of the lifeguard duties. You must also pass a vision test and are required to have 20/70 uncorrected vision in both eyes and must be correctable to the 20/40 standard.
