New York Knicks’ Randle Draining Three’s for At-Risk Kids This Season
Julius Randle has attempted 6.1 three-pointers per game this season. That's up from 5.5 three's per game last year, and is by far his career high.
On paper, that number may not make a ton of sense. Randle is a great post player, thrives playing below the basket, and responds to physicality very well. Why would he be chucking up so many shots from distance?
Earlier today, we found out the incredible reason why.
Julius Randle is Shooting Three's for a Great Cause
Of course, the amount of three's being taken is probably a coincidence. That being said, every three-pointer this season is benefitting an incredible cause.
According to a tweet from Front Office Sports, at the beginning of the season, Randle pledged $500 for every three pointer he makes during the year to Earl Monroe's new charter school in the Bronx.
The tweet also said the following...

Julius Randle is Quickly Becoming a New York Star
A venture like this proves the following statement true: Julius Randle is a star in New York City, and seems to be here to stay.
Randle had a bit of a dip in production after leaving New Orleans, but blossomed in his sophomore year in the Big Apple. He set career highs in points per game and total rebounds per game, and appeared to embrace the role of a leader as the season moved along.
Now, he's taking that leadership off the court, and a group of youngsters in the Bronx are going to benefit immensely from it.
