New York Firefighters Will Finally Be Insured for Cancer Contracted At Ground Zero
Firefighters, police and rescue workers who responded to 9/11 and ended up contracting illness from the debris they inhaled, including cancer, are finally being covered for medical expenses. The federal government has released a report saying more than 50 types of cancer are related to Ground Zero debris.
After more than 10 years, the first responders and any people who lived near the towers can now be treated for free. Most of these people have already been treated and paid for it out of pocket. It is pretty ironic that the first people to respond are the last to be taken care of 12 years later. At least it is better late than never.
