Nashville Songwriters To Honor Local Veterans At Special Clifton Park Performance
Operation Song will salute and honor Capital Region Veterans this month through the power of Country songs.
We know you and EVERYONE in GNA Nation is passionate about Country music. You are even more passionate about supporting our local military service men and women, and Veterans. When you connect Country music with some stories from our amazing Veterans, you get what are simply some of the most powerful songs ever written.
Operation Song Is Coming To Clifton Park For A Special Performance
That is what Operation Song is all about - honoring and saluting local Veterans. They do this in a truly unique and special way by getting some of Nashville's most talented songwriters together with local Veterans for writing sessions to tell their stories through song.
The organization's website says its mission is to ".. empower veterans, active-duty military members, and their families to tell their stories through the process of songwriting. Those we serve need no musical or writing skills, only a willingness to share their stories and, with the help of professional songwriters, transform them into song."
You can see these special songs from some Capital Region Veterans during a special Nashville songwriters' round/performance coming to Clifton Park this month. Operation Song will return to the Capital Region with a special pre-party on Friday, September 20th, with an Operation Song performance event on Saturday, September 21st. Both will be held at Van Patten Golf Club on Main Street in Clifton Park.
I spoke with US Army Veteran and Operation Song Executive Director Mike Byer, an alumnus of the program. He described the experience as a great way to honor our veterans and give them a therapeutic and positive way to talk about things that may be hard for others to relate to.
To hear and see these stories performed by these Nashville songwriters, purchase tickets through the Operation Song website.
