Morean Lake State Park Adds A Stunning Stretch of Land Along the Hudson
Moreau Lake State Park in Gansevoort is one of those stunning destinations that is a pretty quick drive from anywhere in the Albany area, and outdoor enthusiasts will soon have more to explore as the park is adding a "spectacular" 860 acre Big Bend plot along the Hudson River, according to the Governor's office. Moreau is a popular destination for swimmers and campers, and now hikers will have a lot more to check out.
Big Bend is a former logging site and here is how the Governor's office decribes the tract:
"Bounded by two miles of the Hudson River, Big Bend Point includes wide, established logging roads that can be converted into an accessible trail network for year-round walking, bicycling, birding and wildlife viewing, equestrian riding, and non-motorized winter sports such as cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. State Parks plans to install car-top boat/kayak launches, and permit hunting in-season. "
Big Bend Point will also be a great natural habitat for the Karner blue butterfly, an endandgered species. See a preview below of what you can expect when you visit Big Bend in the future!
