More Flights To Florida This Winter From Albany Airport
Soon more flights will be heading to the Sunshine State from Albany International Airport. It isn't a new airline, it's an existing one established at ALB.
JetBlue is adding daily flights from Albany International Airport to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando this winter.
ALB reports that about thirty flights a week are heading to Florida right now. But by December, thanks to new flights from JetBlue, that number will jump to almost fifty flights a week, going to seven different airports in Florida.
JetBlue is expanding a lot in the Northeast. According to the Albany Business Review, they’re adding more flights to Florida from places like Buffalo and Syracuse, starting new routes from Boston’s Logan Airport, and for the first time, flying out of Manchester, New Hampshire.
Altogether, JetBlue plans to have around two hundred and twenty-five flights to Florida every day this winter.
This is just part of a busy year for Albany Airport. They're expanding the terminal and adding two new gates, which they haven’t done since the 1990s. A new airline, Avelo, started direct flights to Raleigh-Durham in May and will begin flights to Charlotte in November. Plus, starting in August, Southwest will have direct flights from Albany to Las Vegas.
If you're flying to Florida, be prepared for delays – those flights are often the most delayed coming to and from Albany International Airport. So, plan to get there at least two hours in advance.
