My wife and I went to get some new decorations for the Christmas tree. It’s not a big deal. After getting what we wanted, we bring the ornaments to the check out. Paid for them with a debit card and go home and deck the halls, or at least the living room.

Because I use a debit card, I sat down to balance the check book. I am extremely careful with this. After I wrote down what we spent, I made the proper calculations. Then I check the balance of the account with our banking institution. After doing a comparison, I notice something’s not right. I go through everything again, and again and find that one of the stores receipts shows you what you saved in big dark letters and numbers. That’s what I put in the check book register, and not the amount we spent. Needless to say I had to go back and readjust all of the balances.

I just want to know why do they do this, what do I have to compare my savings amount with and why didn’t they put the amount spent in a darker font? That’s almost as bad as every receipt has the date in a different place. I go back and make the adjustments in the check book.

Ok, enough venting. Time to get a few more decorations.
