Man in Upstate Arrested after Police Find Arsenal of Illegal Weapons
Upstate Man was Hoarding an Arsenal of Weapons
Police arrested a man in Upstate NY after they learned that he possessed what appeared to be a complete arsenal of illegal firearms, ammunition, and even body armor.
According to the New York State Police, back on November 2, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of SP Batavia arrested Benjamin T. Hayes, 25 of Carlton, NY for a litany of charges including, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Purchase of Body Armor and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree.
"Hayes was in possession of numerous illegal weapons including a privately manufactured ghost gun, 3-D printed pistol receivers, pistols, unregistered Safe Act rifles, high-capacity magazines, body armor, ammunition and electronics involved in private manufacturing of gun parts." NYSP
How Did Police Track Him Down?
The report states that the Bureau of Criminal Investigation got tipped off about an individual possibly stocking up on "illegal weapons possession" back on October 30th.
When they followed up on the tip, State Police executed a search warrant at Haye's home in Carlton, NY.
Once inside, they found an arsenal of illegal weapons including:
- Numerous illegal weapons including a privately manufactured ghost gun
- 3-D printed pistol receivers, pistols, and unregistered Safe Act rifles
- High-capacity magazines, body armor, ammunition, and electronics, all of which were involved in the private manufacturing of gun parts.
According to the report, Hayes was arrested and transported to Orleans County Jail for centralized arraignment.
