Major Summer Admission Discount In Works For NY State Parks
Some of your summer adventures could be a little more affordable this year.
Maine's state slogan is 'Vacationland," but in all honesty, we could make the same argument here in Upstate New York. Between the Catskills, the Adirondacks, all of our lakes, and our amazing state parks, we have plenty of great spots to staycation and spend some quality downtime relaxing.
Thacher State Park
When it comes to state parks, we have some amazing ones right here in the Capital Region that make for the perfect day trip. Thacher, Saratoga Spa, Peebles Island, Grafton Lakes, and Moreau Lake are all beautiful destinations.
Moreau Lake State Park
With the cost of everything going up, especially gasoline, that state park day trip won't be as affordable as it used to be in the months ahead. The good news - some relief could be on the way this summer to keep your recreational excursions super affordable.
According to a CBS 6 report, New York State Senator Jim Tedisco and Assemblyman Matt Simpson have introduced the "I Love NY summer discount" bill to take 50 percent off state park admissions this summer. CBS 6 says the price reduction would apply to "..state parks, historic parks, and recreational facilities."
If you have a family and are planning some summer getaways, you know more than anyone every dollar counts - especially now that it is way more expensive to fill the tank AND the cooler for those New York getaways. Hopefully, this discount goes into effect ASAP to save you a few bucks this summer!
