Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band is one of the biggest concert tours of 2023. Thousands of Upstate fans that tried to get tickets to his March 14th show at MVP Arena were left irate when ticket prices soared into the $1000s thanks to Ticketmaster. Now those fans will get a second chance with a second show.

This morning, Bruce announced their tour was expanding to summer and fall dates in the US after the band comes back from Europe. Ticketmaster will be bringing back their “Verified Fan” ticket pre-sales, where you can register for a spot to get a limited number of tickets. There’s no word on how Ticketmaster’s controversial Dynamic Pricing will be used.

Ticketmaster says they started Dynamic Pricing to fight scalpers – whenever there’s high demand, they raise the prices to match so scalpers can’t afford more. Of course, neither can actual fans. The nosebleeds in Albany were selling for hundreds of dollars before service charges and fees, and floor seats were well over $1000.

After the situation blew up at venues across the country, Ticketmaster issued a rare statement to Variety, saying they sold less than 2% of Springsteen tickets for more than $1k, and that 56% of tickets were sold under $200. They say the Dynamic Ticketing algorithm is "consistent with industry standards."

Besides ticket prices, the tour recently encountered another unique setback. E Street Band members Stevie Van Zandt, Soozie Tyrell, and Patti Scialfa all had COVID for a recent tour stop in Dallas and so Bruce performed a more stripped-down set for the arena.
