He Hid Bullets Inside What? TSA Alarms Triggered at This New York Airport

Earlier this month I flew to Florida to see my mom and as I made my way through the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint at Albany International Airport my bag was flagged and I was pulled to the side.

Turns out the TSA agents were concerned about the Saratoga Candy Company Peppermint Pig that I was bringing to my mom, ultimately they allowed my boar to board. Far less innocent is the case of the "loaded diaper" at LaGuardia Airport. Check this out.

On Wednesday December 20th, according to a TSA press release, an alarm was trigged at the TSA checkpoint after a man placed his carry-on bag through the x-ray machine. In this case agents were concerned about a diaper located inside the bag.

Inside the diaper, TSA officers unwrapped 17 bullets that had been artfully concealed inside the otherwise clean disposable baby diaper. The man, a resident of Arkansas, first told officials that he did not know how the bullet-filled diaper came to be in his carry-on bag.

Eventually the individual attempted to blame his girlfriend by suggesting that she must have put it in his bag. Seems legit, no? TSA officers notified the Port Authority Police, who cited the traveler with unlawful possession of the 9mm ammunition.

In addition to screening personal electronic devices separately, including laptops, tablets, e-readers and handheld game consoles, TSA officers may instruct travelers to separate other items from carry-on bags such as foods, powders, and any materials that can clutter bags and obstruct clear images on the X-ray machine.
