Albany Man Arrested After Chasing A Child With His Car! What?
When I was a kid my mom would tell to get outside and ride your bike. She certainly had concerns but I doubt that she ever thought I'd be chased after by a car. That did, however, happen to one New York child recently and now an Albany man has been arrested.
There are two sides to every story and we don't have all of the information at this time but here are the facts, according to a New York State Police press release.
Late in the evening of Sunday April 16th, New York State Troopers witnessed a vehicle leave the designated driving lanes of Central Avenue in Albany and drive up onto the sidewalk. Did they fall asleep? Were they under the influence or was this done with intent?
Officers state that once the vehicle was on the sidewalk it careened forward and, it appeared, to nearly strike a juvenile on a bicycle. Troopers responded immediately and were able to stop the vehicle and question the driver.
This police investigation determined that the driver of the vehicle was intentionally chasing the bicyclist with his car. The suspect claims that he saw the victim attempting to steal his property.
State Police arrested 54-year-old Robert B. Duncan of Albany and charged him with the following;
- Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child
- Various Vehicle and Traffic Law violations
Robert Duncan was arrested and transported to State Police New Scotland for processing. He was transported to the Albany County Correctional Facility prior to his arraignment. The juvenile was turned over to their guardian.
