Joey Green’s ‘Heartbroke’ Video Finds Him Tapped Out on Love [Exclusive Premiere]

Joey Green is too tapped out to try to find love in his new video for "Heartbroke," which his fans are getting to see first in an exclusive Taste of Country premiere.

The Texas native and current rising Nashville star directs his song toward an ex who took him for everything he was worth emotionally before they ended their relationship.

"Well, I'm stuck here in the red / My heart's bankrupt again / No, I can't get ahead of the mess you left me with / Poor me, I'm hopeless / Now I've got nothing / No love to give, 'cause she ruined it," he sings before rising into the chorus:

"She took all that I had / And I really paid for that / She left me hurtin' real bad / And damn heartbroke / It cost me so much / Now these times are tough / Can't afford to fall in love / 'Cause I'm too damn heartbroke."

"I wrote 'Heartbroke' based on experience and the stories of friends who’ve divorced. There seems to be some truth when equating love to money," Green tells ToC.

"On the music video for 'Heartbroke,' I wanted to go light-hearted to show more of my personality," he adds. "It starts with a garage sale, which turns into a band audition. As if I'd just gone through a divorce and was selling everything to get the band back together."

Green recently signed with one of the biggest music publishers, Warner-Chappell, and he debuted the songs from his new album, Heart Lessons, when he opened for Lainey Wilson at Billy Bob's Texas.

The Lone Star State is where Green built his career, which has also seen him open for artists including Eli Young Band, Randy Rogers, Stoney LaRue, Kevin Fowler and more. He's also a part of the annual Texas Music Takeover Tour alongside other prominent Texas artists, including Pat Green, Cody Canada, Wade Bowen, Josh Abbott, Koe Wetzel, Parker McCollum and more.

Green previous video for "This House Ain't Big Enough" enjoyed a long run in Taste of Country's weekly Video Countdown, and the clip also earned him a Country Music Video of the Year nomination from the Texas Country Music Association. “Saturdays Are for the Boys,” “This House Ain’t Big Enough” and "Puttin' It Out There" have also charted in the Top 100 on the Texas Music and Texas Regional Charts in 2022 and 2023, and Green is slated to perform at the 2024 Country Radio Seminar in Nashville in the spring.
