These Counties In New York State Allow Bars To Stay Open Past 2 AM
Unlike some states, New York doesn't have a unified cut-off time for its bars and restaurants to stop serving alcohol. Some counties are more conservative, while others are more lenient. These counties allow bars and restaurants to serve liquor past 2 am, which is a popular cut-off time in New York and other states around the country.
Some states, like Mississippi, are SUPER conservative. Most of the counties in the state prohibit drink sales after midnight. Meanwhile, Nevada is WIDE OPEN, having no "last call" time at all.
Of course, the old adage - "Nothing good happens after 12 am" - comes into play when it comes to many counties deciding what time to close. That saying has kinda slid into 2 am, rather than midnight, but many still believe it's true.
However, some counties in New York State are here for the party...or at least the revenue it brings in. Staying open an additional hour or two can help bring in more money, which not only benefits the bars and restaurants but the county and state with taxes. About half of the counties in the state stay open to either 3 am or 4 am.
