The warmer weather is here across New York State, and if you are thinking about taking a drive, you should be aware of automatic speed cameras that are set up all across New York State.
These cameras will issue a ticket if they snap a photo of you speeding past them.

How Do The Automatic Speed Cameras Work?

The cameras are set up in work zones all across New York State. If you are caught going 11 miles per hour or more than the posted speed limit in those zones, the camera will automatically send you a ticket in the mail.

If you get a ticket, you have to pay the fine. There will be no points added to your license unless you get multiple infractions.

You will know that there are automatic speed cameras being used in the work zone, as there will be clearly posted signs along the road before, during, and after the zone.

There will also be a check of every infraction captured on the camera before tickets are issued and sent to the address of the registered vehicle.

New York State Troopers Going Undercover To Catch Speeders

On the flip side of the automatic speed cameras, which are clearly marked, some New York State troopers are going undercover as road workers to catch speeders and other infractions in work zones.

It is all part of "Operation Hard Hat" in New York.

Be careful on the roads this summer across New York.
