Is A 3rd Trader Joe’s Grocery Store Coming To The Capital Region?
Could there be a third Trader Joe's grocery store coming to the Capital Region? That's what's swirling on social media and there may be some truth to it.
The center of the speculation is the Glenmont Plaza. The rumor is that there may be a grocery store being built on part of the property along Route 9W. Benderson Development who owns the plaza put in a site plan to the Development Planning Committee for a small grocery store.
Although it is not confirmed, according to the Times Union, the space is slated to be 14,755 square feet which is a similar square footage of a Trader Joe's grocery store.
To make way for a possible Trader Joe's, the plan is to demolish about 18,291 square feet of retail space that has a Dollar Tree and a Five Below store.
A grocery store will go into the space but there is no word on which one. The square footage may be one indicator and the other could be the parking lot. They are looking at putting in a fifty-one-car parking lot. This is similar to a Trader Joe's parking lot.
Another way that the rumor mill is churning is on the "Glenmont Gets It-Bethlehem Center" Facebook page. It's blowing up with speculation. Some have even said that Trader Joe's is a done deal.
