There is nothing quite like some local summer baseball.  We have given the Albany Dutchmen a ton of love as we should in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League.  But the Amsterdam Mohawks deserve a ton of love for what they have done in the PGCBL over the last decade or so.  I was there live on location with WNYT for Rodger on the Road on Monday night and it was awesome.  The atmosphere and the level of baseball were truly terrific.  Here is my quick take on this from The Times Union:

The Amsterdam Mohawks have turned into a dynasty team in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League. The Mohawks are going after their 10th league title, and the fan support in Amsterdam is impressive. The community support is tremendous, and Shuttleworth Park provides a great setting. The Mohawks are a mini version of the ValleyCats, and they pack the house with sellout crowds of 1,500 fans on most nights. General Manager Brian Spagnola attracts some of the top college prospects every summer to Amsterdam, and the Mohawks are on the verge of winning another championship.

MJ and I discussed the Mohawks semifinal game Tuesday morning right here on Big Board Sports and also had on GM of the Amsterdam Mohawks Brian Spagnola on with us on Monday afternoon.  Below are both conversations.

I absolutely love summer baseball and I was impressed with the crowd and how nice the field was at Shuttleworth Park.  I can't wait to go back there to cover the Amsterdam Mohawks again soon and best of luck to them in the PGCBL championship series.
