After adding 10 new states and removing one, travelers from 31 states now must isolate for 14 days when visiting New York.

During his press conference today Governor Cuomo announced the state of New York is adding the following states to the quarantine list: Alaska, Indiana, Delaware, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, Virginia and Washington. Travelers from these states who visit New York are required to quarantine for 14 days. Minnesota was removed from the list, which now totals 31 states. You can see all the states on the quarantine list on the Governor's website.

As coronavirus cases continue to spike nationwide, the quarantine list is intended to keep new cases from coming to New York to prevent our numbers from spiking, which have stabilized after a huge early Spring spike. While we understand the reasoning behind the quarantine, having so many states on this list now can't be good for the tourism industry which is in the middle of a super important time of the year. Fewer travelers means fewer dollars coming into hotels, restaurants and attractions.

Hopefully those businesses get the support they need from regional travelers not on the quarantine list. If you can this summer, travel local to support our tourism industry.
