They are on Central Avenue, in Albany, Colonie Center, Route 7 and Route 9 in Latham, and Saratoga Road in Glenville.

Scott did a blog about when the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy back in October, 2011, and closed some Albany area restaurants.

From a story in the Times Union, Friendly’s sought to work with their landlords to restructure lease arrangements at locations where they believed rents did not reflect current market conditions and were significantly impacting the viability of underperforming restaurants.

They plan to send the employees from the closed shops to some of the five remaining restaurants that are still open. The ones still open are, Route 50 - Saratoga Springs, Route 4 - East Greenbush, Aviation Road - Glens Falls, Route 146 - Clifton Park and Hoosick Street - Troy.

This makes 11 Friendly’s to close in the Albany area in only a few months. This is sad, because I think most of us took our kids there at one time or another to get ice cream.
