February Fireworks a go in Lake George
There has been a lot of events canceled because of the pandemic. It's great to see that there is something for us to do all month long because the Lake George area is holding its Winterfest. They announced that they will also be having fireworks each Saturday night.
We all have been doing more outdoor activities during COVID, in fact, I even tried goat yoga for the first time. When the Lake George Winter Carnival was canceled, they decided to make it the Lake George Winterfest where they could offer other socially distanced activities for everyone to enjoy. There is something completely amazing about standing on frozen Lake George and ice skating. To think that in the summer, I have been tubing and swimming in the lake, and now literally walking on frozen water is pretty awesome. There is also cross-country skiing which is a great cardio workout while checking out the beauty of Lake George surrounded by the Adirondack mountains. If you want a real adventure, they also offer "fat tire" mountain biking. These tires allow you to plow through the snow while following a bike path.
Now Lake George Winterfest includes a fireworks display. I don't think I have seen a fireworks show since the summer of 2019. It's so nice to know that they are bringing them back even if it's a shortened show. According to the Post Star, on Saturday nights through the end of February, there will be an eight-minute firework show over Fort William Henry along Beach Road as part of Lake George Winterfest. It's done so that large crowds won't gather but it is visible throughout the area.
