The nominations for the 45th Annual CMA Awards came out today and two voices you hear on WGNA have been nominated for broadcast awards. First in the national category we have Kix Brooks, host of the American Country Countdown which is heard every Sunday evening. The second and most important is the Medium Market Personality Of The Year nominees. Our own Kevin Richards is once again nominated in this prestigious category has won in the past and he certainly deserves to win again. I have had the pleasure of working with Kevin for the past 11 years that I've been here at WGNA and am very proud of his accomplishments! Our Friends at Taste of Country wrote a great story about Kevin that you can check out here.

As long as we are on the topic of the CMA's I would like to give you my picks as to who I think will win this year in the actual music categories:

Entertainer of the Year: Blake Shelton. The guy has been on a roll as of late, he puts on a great

show and has been all over TV especially with his recent gig as judge on The Voice.

Male Vocalist: Same as above, Blake Shelton

Female Vocalist: Miranda Lambert has been in the spotlight more than any of the other nominees, she wins hands down.

Vocal Group: Lady Antebellum. The trio keeps cranking out hit after hit there's no doubt they win.

Vocal Duo: I am going to say Sugarland takes the trophy, but won't be surprised by an upset win for Thompson Square.

Best New Artist: The Band Perry, they took it at the ACM's they take it here.

Single Of The Year:  "If I Die Young" By The Band Perry. Huge country hit which has crossed over

Song Of The Year: "Dirt Road Anthem. Colt Ford and Brantley Gilbert will pick up this award for this huge Jason Aldean hit!

Album Of The Year: "My Kinda Party" By Jason Aldean. I listen to this album from beginning to end constantly. This one has my vote.

Vocal Event: If I could pick them all I would, but I will have to go with Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson with "Don't You Wanna Stay". Loved it the first time I heard it on last years award show.

Music Video: "Old Alabama" by Brad Paisley. Paisley always makes great videos and he knocked another one outta the park with this one.

So what do you think of my picks? Who would you choose? If you want to see the complete list of nominees be sure to check out our CMA Nominee Kevin Richards blog.
